Was just forwarded this article from Keith King on NBC Action News. At the end, he says there is no end in sight. Perhaps this was true back in January when he wrote this. Allow me to be a flashlight for good ol’ Keith…

Hannah Montana, Elton John and Billy Joel are all big name concerts in Kansas City where ticket brokers gobbled up tickets. It left many people angry and out in the cold. Ticket scalping is legal. Fans will be competing with scalpers to get the best seats to the best concerts. So how do they do it and what are their secrets? For answers, NBC Action News Investigator Keith King got up close to the secretive world that turns high tech into big bucks. This winter, Hannah Montana is the concert, the hit with the tween scene, and one that sheds light on the dark side of ticket sales. To get tickets to any big time show, you need to be a savvy shopper or willing to pay the price. Competition for seats inside the Sprint Center can be fierce. At the Hannah Montana concert, parents arriving with children told horror stories of what they went through to get tickets. "They've been crying all night," one father said. "I said, 'Let's go down and see what's up.” "A hundred and twenty bucks a piece, not too bad." But we found people with dozens of tickets, including one person with 30. They're known as scalpers; brokers who buy and resell tickets at inflated prices. When NBC Action News went looking for answers, we found out the business of ticket sales is a closely-guarded secret. "It's not a secret," one scalper joked. "If we tell you, we got to kill you." Another scalper said, "Its dumb luck and a lot of persistence. I attribute all of my success to Dell and the new dual core processor." NBC Action News soon found out that a good computer, armed with the right program may be all you need. The details into this underground world of cash and deals are spelled out in court papers. Ticketmaster recently got an injunction against RMG Technologies Inc., a software manufacturer that helps brokers gobble up tickets. It's called "stealth technology" and it allows brokers to bypass online security steps and hide their computer's internet protocol (IP) address, allowing them to buy tickets in seconds. "Effectively jumps in front of the line, cuts in front of the line and puts themselves to get tickets first," Jon Keehart with Supertechs said. The technology is so quick, one broker tried to buy 600,000 tickets in one day. That angle could make all the difference. "By the time your computer gets there, mine's already bought them," a scalper said. Despite the steps to stop the practice, the problem is far from over. NBC Action News found others online, openly advertising for new software to do the same thing. It's an ongoing battle between the show's real fans and the fans of fast cash. And there is no end in sight. |

Love that $16 convenience charge!!!!
I talked with the guy running the ticket agency and told him how I always wait until the last minute to pick up tickets and he told me that 99 out of 100 times that I will always find tickets for under face value that way. 99 TIMES OUT OF 100.
He also asked me not to share my knowledge with too many people because that would put him out of business. Then we both laughed.
Seats tonight are Section B, row C. Check it out at the seating chart here: http://www.greektheatrela.com/ticket_info/seating_chart.asp
It is a good time for yours truly today. I just got the email from the printer that the book has been accepted and I should be receiving my proof copy by Wednesday. Once I approve the proof, then “Sold Out…SO WHAT!” will officially be in print.
Fans Rejoice!!!

OK! All things considered, that worked like a charm! Got 4 tickets, 3rd row in the upper deck for George Michael, a 45 degree view from the stage, for only $25 each. Throw in the obligatory convenience charges, and it still comes to under $40. Score!
This deal is going on for the next 25 hours, so if you are into it, hook it up!!!
In thirty minutes, Live Nation is going to release all remainder George Michael tickets for $25 for the next 25 hours. I am curious to see if the Ticket Brokers get all these tickets before the general public can get their hands on them.
Even if you hate George Michael, this is a KILLER deal, seeing as the tickets were STARTING at $53.50 or so for the seats in the rafters and over $300 up close. Just for shits and giggles, I will be on at 10am, although experience has taught me that we (the common fan) rarely get a chance to capitalize on the “tickets on sale at 10am” schtick. More to come shortly….

Your Citi Mastercard, that is. I knew that citi card had a program for its members that allows you to get tickets for pre-sale, but didn’t know how to take advantage of it until recently.
This morning, I got an email from them that offered me FREE tickets to go see the Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl July 9th. All I had to do was give them a call, and that was it. No purchase necessary for anything. I was surprised how easy it was.
This is the third time in as many weeks that I have now used this “private pass” from Citi. I already got four pre-sale tickets for Madonna in November and Janet Jackson this fall. All without having to deal with the general public madness.
If you have a citi card, go to www.privatepass.citi.com and that will show you all of the upcoming events and deals through them. If you don’t have a citi card, I got mine no problem, and I had some pretty crappy credit at the time I got it. Just use it for tickets, and don’t buy anything else (yah, right!).
There were still FREE tickets available for the Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival. Jump on it. I’ll see you there!!!
Rock On.

Sweet Novemeber…
Now, I don’t claim to be a big NY Theater goer, but the squirrel and I are here right now in the big apple. This weekend is the Tony Awards (Theater’s version of the Oscars) so it is a big deal to go and see the plays that have the nominated actors in.
I already got my fill of musicals (1 total) when she took me to see WICKED at the Pantages for my birthday a few months back, so we decided to check out a comedy.
Just about to walk out the door to go see NOVEMEBER, starring Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf, who is nominated for BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS.
Orchestra tickets for this show are $113, with tickets going on Craigslist for the sweet seats at $300.
There is a place called TKTS on 46th and Broadway (ish) at the Marriott Marquis hotel that offers ½ price tickets on the day of the show for most of the shows in town, depending on the day.
At 6:30 tonight, we stopped by just to see what we could get. We ended up with 6th row Orchestra, right in the middle, for 50% off. That’s right, a bona fide 2fer.
Heading out now.
More to come…..
I love New York!

It’s good to be back! It feels like forever since I have been to a game. Truth is, it’s only been a few weeks, but if FEELS LIKE FOREVER.
I have been working hard on getting my book ready to get out to the masses. You are almost ready to go to www.TicketJedi.com and get hooked up with everything I know on how to get tickets at or below face value.
Case in point. Going to the Dodgers vs. Cubs tonight. These seats I just scored on ebay are Loge Box seats with a face value of $30 each. My price? $8.75 for BOTH
Happy Days are here again!
