Deuce Book Review: "Sold Out So What!"
I
got an email the other day talking about a book that was supposed to enable
anyone to score any tickets to any event no matter if they claim they were sold
out. Naturally, I was intrigued, so I asked for a copy of it, read through it
in an hour and here's what I think of the book "Max Deale's Sold Out...So What!"
by Max Deale.
Right of the bat, I noticed that its a thin read, that could be a good or a bad thing depending on the person. Me, I think its a good thing, because I don't have a ton of time to read books and review them since I have a day job here (Sorry Kenny Mayne). The first couple chapters are a lot of background as to how Max got started scoring tickets to events, which got me to skip ahead pretty quick to how he actually goes about getting tickets to sold out events and from there I indeed found some useful information.
Yea,
the tips and tricks Deale lists are actually solid, some of them I've used
before (ie: use Craigslist) when I've wanted to score tickets, but his tips
were good in telling the reader how to maximize their efforts in ways that you
might not have thought of. I could pick out several things I've done wrong when
getting tickets to shows that I will now correct the next time I get tickets.
I could probably sum up the book in a few paragraphs because the tips are pretty easy to get a grasp of, but then you'd have no reason to buy the book and thats the point isnt it? I mean its only 15 bucks on Amazon and you'll certainly save that money in ticketmaster fees from the first pair of tickets you purchase for a show.
Overall, there's a bit of filler for a the tips and tricks given but the points that are made in the book are valid and well thought out. You could tell that he has done these many times and they have worked. The style of writing is extremely conversational, kind of like a conversation between you and Billy Mays (you should watch that link) so get used to your book speaking loudly to you. Also, on a side note, Max and I certainly have different tastes in music, I was completely appalled at some of the concerts he tried and got tickets for but that is besides the whole point...which is to tell you how to score tix to sold out shows and the book does succeed in this.
If you are tired of getting the shaft with ticketmaster fees, radio contests to sold out shows you never win, or jacked up resellers prices, give the book a shot. It just might help you out.
(If you want to hear Max on the Radio, he'll be on the Ferrall show on Howard Stern's channel on Sirius on July 31st at 8:30pm EST give a listen if you've got the technology.)
You can get the book at Max Deale's site or Amazon
Taking my buddy Jim to the Dodgers game tonight against
the Giants. He is dying to find out the
secrets found in my book. I’ve already
told him that I picked up two tickets tonight for a grand total of $9.95 and
told him to be ready to sit on the Field Level.
He’s ready to go, and so am I.
FYI, face value for even the upper deck is $9-12 per ticket, so even if we didn’t move down, we’re already looking at 50% off face value. But if you take a look at a ticket broker site (I won’t mention any names but you can look for yourself), a seat in section 17 row G goes for $227 with all of the fees (Note that the processing fee is higher than the entire price of my book) :

I'm still going.
Here is the newest 60 second spot I made for the book "Sold Out...SO WHAT!" Not for the squeamish, but funny as hell. Enjoy!
By the way, the book keeps moving back and forth between saying "In Stock" and "Out of Stock" on Amazon. This seems to be the only web site that is doing that. I checked www.bn.com and it is fine. On my website, www.SoldOutSoWhat.net it is fine as well. I think it is just a glitch on Amazon. The first round of books went out today to everyone who participated in our "Pre-Release Special" as well as a few influential bloggers. I look forward to everyone's thoughts on the book!
Rock On.

All kinds of deals coming out today. Here’s another one from Citi Cards. It’s worth it to get a Citi Card just to get all of the great deals they have on concert tickets. I used this private pass option that they have to get advanced tickets for both Madonna and Janet Jackson (the squirrel loves her!). Gave the Madonna tickets away to a guy who wanted to take his wife for her birthday, so it all worked out. See below for more information….

I just came across this so if you're in the LA or San Diego area, log on tomorrow at 10am and see what comes up.
Live Nation is doing a Fan Appreciation Day. See below for more information.
If you see something that's really cool, let me know and I'll grab tickets too. Rock On!

I reported yesterday that my friend Kymberlee learned her first eBay lesson about as she tried to get tickets for Ricky Gervais. I told her in the past that when something like this happens, and you practice a little patience and faith along with the willingness to roll the dice a little bit, you always end up with something better.
I call it FAILING UP!
Well, today, we worked together and found a great deal. She scored a pair of 2nd row tickets DEAD CENTER for $275 FOR THE PAIR. That comes out to $137.50 each with no convenience charges or shipping fees, etc. whatsoever.
I always like to jump on the ticket broker sites to find out what the “REAL” savings are. This is what we found. Below is the actual posting from a broker site that advertises front row seats. It says they will sell 1 or 3 Hard Tickets. Seeing as we just picked up two of those (all it takes is a little persuasion and they will sell 2 even if they say they won’t), there was only 1 left when I typed it in. Here are the results.

ORCH PIT VIP-CENTR BBB
2ND ROW CENTER, ORCH PIT VIP, ODD - SELL AS 1 OR 3 -Hard Tickets
1 of 1 available $190.00/each
Subtotal $190.00 Convenience Fee ($40.00) $40.00 Shipping $15.00 Total $245.00
That price is just for ONE ticket. Double that to $490 for the pair and she just saved a grand total of $215. Yesterday, Kymberlee said she would’ve put as her Max Bid $300, which would’ve come to $320 with the shipping. So she saved an additional $45 off what she thought she would’ve had to spend yesterday.
When she was talking to the seller today, the lowest they would go was $300 for the pair. The seller said that was as low as she could go because they were “flying off the shelf” (her words, not mine. That one made me laugh!). Kymberlee called me and I told her to offer $275 just for shits and giggles. We’ll see how fast their flying off the shelf. I told her that the seller wants to be done with this as much as she does. Turns out we were right!
This is going to be a surprise for her husband. He’s gonna crap when he sees where he’s sitting!
Stay tuned for pictures and what happens to where the squirrel and I end up sitting!!!
