Big thanks to Jean Martirez from Fox Morning News Los Angeles for inviting me on to speak to the fans of Los Angeles. Jean saw my interview on KTLA last week and emailed me asking "what do we have to do to get you on our show?" which I thought was pretty cool. All you have to do is ask, Jean!
Here's the segment that we did. It was fun and I'm starting to feel a little more comfortable on camera. Maybe it's the dumb Manny Ramirez wig that I got to hide behind for this one!? Who knows. Thanks to Evan D. for the interview coaching. Just breathe damnit!
This is the new 30 second spoof commercial we just made for the book. It is extremely silly on purpose. Enjoy!!! We are extending the Pre-Release special til the end of the week.
Sometimes I will go to a show just to see the crowd reaction. Last night at the Kanye West GLOW IN THE DARK concert at Nokia LA was fantastic if for nothing else than to people watch.
I am not a Kanye West fan. That is not to say he isn’t entertaining, I just don’t listen to his music. But when my boy Marcus called yesterday and offered me my favorite “C” word (Comp) ticket, I was happy to check out the scene. They were great seats, too. Orchestra section 428, Row FF, on the isle.

You can’t say that Kanye and company don’t give his fans their monies worth. The show itself lasted over 5 hours. Beginning at 7pm, Kanye himself didn’t go on until 10:45.
There was no denying that “it never gets old” bass pump at the beginning of his set that causes you to momentarily lose your breath. Then we find Kanye just after he has crashed his spaceship in some kind of Hip Hop Space Odyssey. The crowd of 7,100 strong immediately threw their hands in the air, and the adventure took off from there. That being said, out of the whole show, there were approximately three lines of his vocals that I COULD understand.
“You Can’t Tell Me Nuthin’”
“I Ain’t Sayin’ She’s a Gold Digger”
“Throw yer hands up”
But I was in the minority there, as everyone else didn’t seem to have a problem understanding every word he said.
If you are a fan of his, then the show is DEFINITELY worth seeing. If you are on the fence, then it is worth it just for the production value of the set, graphics, fire, smoke, and digital screens that they infused into the one man show. The robotic fly girls were a nice touch on the screen as well as the answer to Kanye saying “it’s been so long since I’ve had a woman”.
This show runs LONG, though. There were a few instances when the show could’ve ended successfully, and one hit that absolutely SHOULD have been the finally, but he kept on going. People were beginning to pour out of the arena, myself included, before the show was completely over. I guess he has a hard time knowing when to end his bit and get off the stage. But I am not a critic, so who cares. It was an interesting night to say the least. Bring your glow stick, or pay $10 for one of theirs.
